Explorers Single Vineyard Shiraz 2021

$40.00

Shiraz grapes sourced from an exceptional dry grown vineyard just south of the Porongorups in the locality of Kalgan River, have power depth, weight and perfume typical of the best in the Great Southern region. Ripe plummy fruit, charcuterie, and nuances of smoky oak and vanilla pod greet the senses. Luscious deep plummy fruit, plush velvety tannins, beautiful oak integration, and seriously good length indicate this wine will reward careful cellaring for at least 10 years.

Winemaking

Shiraz grapes were harvested in the cool of night. It was then crushed to red fermenters for a period of 11 days. The wine was co-inoculated with malolactic bacteria during fermentation and both fermentations finished together. The ferment was pressed and racked into French oak barriques, 35% new, for a period of 16 months, racked, filtered and bottled in November 2022.
